About Zat Knight

Zatyiah “Zat” Knight better known as Zat Knight, an English football player, was born on May 2, 1980 in Solihull, West Midlands of England. Aptly nicknamed “Knightmare”, with an imposing 6 feet 6 inches figure, he plays at the centre-back defending position on the pitch.

Representing England at national level, Zat Knight started his international football career as a substitute in a friendly match against the United States of America on May 28, 2005. In the same year, in another friendly match held on May 31, this talented player earned his second cap against Colombia.

Prior to signing an agreement with Fulham in 1999, Zat Knight played for Rushall Olympic youth club without signing a contract. During the 1999-2000 season, he went on loan to Peterborough United Third Division and played in 8 league matches for the club. He participated in 3 Football League Cup matches for Fulham First Division in the 2000-2001 season. By scoring 2 brilliant goals for Fulham in the 2004-2005 English football season, Zat Knight gained a place for himself in the team. His outstanding performance was witnessed in a Football Association (FA) Cup match of the 2006-2007 English season, when he scored a goal for Fulham against Watford, which ended in a 1-1 draw. Zat Knight helped the team win against Norwich City in a FA Premiership match (6-0) by scoring a goal. Inspite of him scoring a goal, Fulham was unable to win against Bolton Wanderers, which won 2-1.

Of the 23 appearances he has made for Fulham at the League matches in 2006-2007, Zat Knight scored two goals for the team. Considering his consistency in the 2006-2007 season, Zat Knight was allowed to captain the team temporarily, when Luis Boa Morte, then captain of Fulham F.C., was injured.
An ardent fan of the Aston Villa F.C. since his childhood, Zat Knight signed a four year contract with the club, on August 29, 2007. His debut match for Aston Villa was marked off with an impressive, headed goal, clinching a 2-0 victory against Chelsea, on September 2, 2007.
