Younes Kaboul is a professional footballer of Moroccan origin who was born on January 4, 1986 in Saint-Julien-en-Genevois, France. A versatile player who can play both as defender and mid-fielder, he played in the France Under-19 team and also captained its Under-21 team.


Younes Kaboul started his career with AJ Auxerre, a French football club, in 2004 and by the following year he became a regular player for the team. In 2005. he not only won the Coupe de France for the club in 2005, but also played in three Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) Cup matches too.


Younes Kaboul signed for Tottenham Hotspur for £7 million on July 5, 2007 and played his first game for it against St. Patrick’s Athletic in a friendly match on July 12. He played his first Premier League match for the club in the opening day of the 2007-08 season against Sunderland. Younes Kaboul scored his first premiership goal for the club against Fulham on September 1, whereas his first European goal for the Spurs came in the UEFA Cup on September 20. He also scored a late equalizer in the stoppage time against Aston Villa to level the score 4-4, completing a remarkable comeback from a 1-4 deficit.


In August 2008, Younes Kaboul joined Portsmouth on a four-year contract for an undisclosed fee, after turning down offers from Sunderland and Aston Villa. Younes Kaboul considers manager Harry Redknapp as the primary reason behind his decision to join the club, and regards him as a confidence-boosting person.
