Yogesh Takawale is a professional Indian cricketer, who was born on November 5, 1984 in Pune, Maharashtra. He is a right-handed batsman, who also plays the role of a wicketkeeper on the field.


During the 2005-06 season, Yogesh Takawale made his first-class debut for the Maharashtra team. He went onto make an effortless fifty against Australia in a warm-up match held in October 2006 prior to the Champions Trophy. He holds an excellent record as a wicketkeeper by making maximum dismissals in seven matches including 10 catches and 1 stumping.


Yogesh Takawale joined hands with Shridharan Shriram, his team-mate, and played a crucial role by contributing 52 runs for the team in a 2006-07 Ranji Trophy match against Mumbai. He along with team-mates, Venugopal Rao and Vishal Bhilare, was instrumental in Maharashtra’s 182-run lead over Rajasthan in the 2007 Ranji Super League. Yogesh Takawale has represented the team in 14 first-class matches scoring 812 runs at an average of 42.73 as of May 2008.

Yogesh Takawale made his Twenty20 (T20) debut for Maharashtra against Gujarat at Mumbai in April 2007. Owing to his excellent skills as a batsman, he was selected to be a part of the Mumbai Indians squad for the inaugural season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). He was signed for a fee of U.S. $50,000 and played for the team against Bangalore Royal Challengers in May 2008 at Bangalore.
