As a Producer for KMJ Radio in Clovis, California, in 2011, Yates Walker booked a number of notable guests, including business and political authorities for KMJ’s news and opinion broadcasts. As a contributor to The Chris Daniel Show, The Ray Appleton Show, The Inga Barks Show, and KMJ Morning News, Mr. Walker successfully raised the station’s profile by providing engaging guests and content. Most notably, he arranged for the appearance of Gibson Guitar’s chief executive officer on The Chris Daniel Show, breaking a national story about the Justice Department’s controversial investigation of Gibson for the use of exotic wood from Madagascar. Previously, Mr. Walker performed political research and daily show preparation for the Happy Hour with Greg Budell at WMRK News Talk 107.9 FM in Montgomery, Alabama.
Yates Walker’s active foray into politics began while he served as a Community Reorganizer for Americans for Limited Government in 2009. Working to generate opposition to the federal health care reform bill, he built a volunteer infrastructure throughout six congressional districts in Ohio, Georgia, Alabama, and Indiana. Subsequently, Mr. Walker assumed the position of Regional Campaign Director and media liaison for candidate Doug Hoffman’s election run in New York’s 23rd congressional district.
Closing out the 2010 congressional election cycle, Yates Walker accepted an offer to become the campaign manager of lesser-known Tea Party candidate Rick Barber. With responsibility for strategy, speech writing, and campaign staff direction, Mr. Walker elevated Mr. Barber’s name recognition by 40% in the six months before Alabama’s 2nd congressional district election.
