Wilson Roberto Palacios is a professional football midfielder born on July 29, 1984 in La Ceiba, Honduras. He has been nicknamed “Magician” and “Harry Potter” in the football circuit. His brothers Milton, Jerry, Johnny and Edwin are also professional footballers.


Wilson Roberto Palacios was selected for the Honduras national team in 2003, and he has won 55 caps for the team as of September 2008. He has also scored four goals for Honduras and is regarded as one of the best Honduran players of his generation.


Wilson Roberto Palacios kicked off his football career along with his brothers with the youth set-up of Club Deportivo Victoria in 2000. He switched to Olimpia in 2002, and shot into fame by scoring a stunning goal from the half-way line towards the end of the match against Marathón in 2006. During his tenure with the club, he made 102 league appearances, contributing 32 goals.


Wilson Roberto Palacios was offered a trial by Birmingham City in August 2007 on the recommendation of Arsenal manager, Arsène Wenger. At the end of it, the club concluded a six-month loan deal with him on August 31, 2007. He made it to the starting eleven of the team for the first time in the match against Liverpool at Anfield.


On January 11, 2008 Wilson Roberto Palacios signed for Wigan Athletic for an undisclosed fee, and made his Wigan debut the very next day against Derby County. He quickly became a favorite with the fans, and was considered one of the most talented players to have played for the club so far. Wilson Roberto Palacios was instrumental in the club retaining its Premier League spot for the following season. Leading English Newspaper, The Sun, rated him as one of the top 10 signings of the Premier League 2007-2008 season. His team mate, Michael Brown is all praises for the Honduran, and feels that the young player has a lot of potential.


As of May 2008, Wilson Roberto Palacios has made 17 appearances for Wigan Athletic.
