William Woolverton

Over the years, Bill Woolverton has maintained a diversified role as corporate counsel and investment management specialist for major financial services organizations in the United States and abroad. With more than 30 years of experience in his field, Mr. Woolverton currently serves as General Counsel and Senior Managing Director at Gottex Fund Management, a global manager of hedge funds. Bill Woolverton contributes to the growth of his firm as one of nine members on the Executive Committee, helping oversee $8 billion in assets under management. Chair of both the Compliance and Product Development Committees, Bill Woolverton holds responsibility for all global regulatory compliance issues at Gottex Fund Management, contributes to the creation of new investment products, and participates in institutional client development, among other company functions. Recently, Mr. Woolverton has spoken at the International Bar Association Conference on the Globalization of Investment Funds and the Annual Hedge Fund General Counsel Summit. In addition, Bill Woolverton and his legal and compliance staff at Gottex Fund Management were nominated by the Association of Corporate Counsel and the International Law Office as Finalists for a Global Counsel Award. A former member of the Investment Company Institute, Bill Woolverton presently holds affiliation with the Boston Hedge Fund Group. Bill Woolverton was interviewed on the important subject of hedge fund due diligence by The Hedge Fund Law Report (October 6, 2011). 

A graduate of Amherst College in Massachusetts; Kings College, Cambridge; and Columbia Law School in New York City, Bill Woolverton began working in the area of investment management as an Associate in the Corporate Group at Carter Ledyard & Milburn LLP in 1979. From there, he went on to work at such notable firms as Rogers & Wells, Alliance Capital Management Corporation, and Putnam Investments, where he served as a Managing Director, Partner, and General Counsel for 16 years. Along with his wife and children, Bill Woolverton resides in the greater Boston metropolitan area.
