About William Johns
William Johns - Professional Summary: Dr. William Johns possesses exemplary analytical capacity and research skills, coupled with a strong background in medicine, chemistry, and medical informatics. Trained in psychiatry, Dr. William Johns has worked with adults, children, and adolescents in inpatient settings and in outpatient private practice. He has passed the United States Medical Licensing Examination and is in the process of becoming board-certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.
Dedicated to scholarship as well as medical practice, Dr. Johns has served on the program study team of the Mars Homestead Project. He previously served for three years as a psychiatric research fellow on a project entitled “Risk & Sensation Seeking Among Surfers in Hawaii,” and has showcased his research at the Poster Presentation of the Annual Meeting of the American Psychosomatic Association. During his medical education, Dr. William Johns worked as a clinical trials research assistant in the Department of Dermatology at the University of South Florida.
In 2003, Dr. William Johns concluded a fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry at the University of Hawaii, where he also completed a residency in general psychiatry. During his tenure as a resident, Dr. Johns served as the chief resident of his department, receiving such honors as the Outstanding Resident Award in General Psychiatry. He earned his Doctor of Medicine in 1998 at the University of South Florida’s Morsani College of Medicine.
Before enrolling in medical school, Dr. William Johns earned a Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry from the University of South Florida in 1993, where he held membership in numerous organizations, including the Alpha Epsilon Delta Honor Society, the College of Arts and Sciences Honor Society, and the Themis Honor Society. During his undergraduate education, he served as a patient care trainee at the Shriner’s Hospital for Children.
