William Belfar Ph.D., M.D

Currently residing and working in New York, Dr. William Belfar runs Manhattan Medical and Psychiatric Services, PC, as President and Chief Executive Officer. Founded in 2011 by a merger with Dr. William Belfar's practice, the multidisciplinary medical and psychiatric facility provides psychiatric and neurological services to patients. Serving a variety of patients, from adolescents to the elderly, Manhattan Medical and Psychiatric Services, PC, employs an extensive staff of experienced professionals, including psychologists, psychiatrists, and internal medicine physicians.

 

Dr. William Belfar possesses over 20 years of experience in the medical field. After obtaining his Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical Engineering from the State University of New York at Stony Brook (now Stony Brook University), he pursued training and education in medicine at the New York University School of Medicine, where he graduated with his Doctor of Medicine. He completed an internship in internal medicine at Beth Israel Medical Center in New York before relocating to Massachusetts and Maryland to participate in a neurology residency and psychiatry residency, respectively. In 1997, Dr. William Belfar returned to New York and completed a fellowship at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine of Yeshiva University focusing on forensic psychiatry.

 

In addition to overseeing operations of his private practice, Dr. William Belfar functions as a Consulting Psychiatrist to several institutions, including Pathways Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Rosewood Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, and Diamond Hill Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He utilizes his extensive knowledge and background to assist in the daily operations of Rye Hospital Center as Associate Medical Director of Adult Inpatient Services. He has served as an Attending Psychiatrist with FEGS Health and Human Services System and with Jacobi Medical Center/North Central Bronx Medical Center.
