Vern Coyner: Senior Oil Engineering Executive

Vern Coyner, an Arizona native whose career first took him to Oklahoma City, where he graduated in 1978 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Geological Engineering, now resides in Anchorage, Alaska, where he serves as senior drilling engineer and project manager on a contractual basis. In this capacity, Vern Coyner has advised clients such as Kerr-McGee, ConocoPhillips, Pioneer Natural Resources, and Anadarko’s Jacob’s Ladder exploration project, among others.

In Vern Coyner’s present position at ASRC Energy Services – E&P Technology, Vern Coyner is responsible for the following:

Since Vern Coyner’s career began in 1978, Vern Coyner has been dedicated and focused on senior engineering efforts for oil companies and their interests. At Pioneer Natural Resources, Vern Coyner managed the discovery well in the Ooguruk field: drilled below frozen sea ice; Vern Coyner also drilled eight exploratory wells for Kerr-McGee and managed the discovery wells for the Nikaitchuq field; and at BP Alaska, Vern Coyner was project engineer for the deepest well ever discovered in the state’s history. Vern Coyner presently serves as drilling engineer/superintendent for Anadarko Petroleum for their “foothills” project, located on the North Slope.

 

Vern Coyner’s International Experience
Vern Coyner became senior drilling engineer for Occidental Oil and Gas Corp’s International Drilling Pool (IDP) division, which took Vern Coyner to many countries, including Malaysia, Siberia (former Soviet Union), Algeria, Vietnam, Venezuela, Albania, Oman, New Guinea, and Bangladesh. The work Vern Coyner completed in this capacity was on a rotation and call-out basis.

 

Vern Coyner’s Present Family

Vern Coyner, whose first wife, Corann Coyner, has two grown, successful children, and has been married to Larisa Bocharnikova since 2007.

Vern Coyner’s Family History

Vern Coyner enjoys some distinct family notoriety. Vern Coyner’s father, Donald Gene Coyner, was born in 1928 to Dorsa (nee) Hatfield, of the infamous Hatfield & McCoy legend. In addition, Vern Coyner’s father was from West Virginia and served in the 82nd Airborne Division.
