Uta Staley possesses a background that has helped shape her lifelong pursuits in travel, culture, and the arts, as well as her humanitarian endeavors. A native of Germany, Ms. Staley completed her primary and secondary education at the College of the Ursulines in her home country. After moving to the United States and becoming a citizen, Uta Staley started her long career in the travel industry. For 25 years, she assisted customers as a sales agent, and also capitalized upon her expertise in the field by undertaking world travel adventures herself. She has particularly enjoyed her visits to Europe, Africa, and Asia.
In her international travels, Uta Staley has not only spent time admiring the countries she visits, she has also engaged in humanitarian activities. She provides financial and educational support to families and children in Ethiopia, and also sponsors Ethiopian students at U.S. universities, including the University of Wisconsin-Madison, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and others. To continue her contributions to the Ethiopian people through work in her own city, Uta Staley is a member of, and makes donations to, the Ethiopian Community Association of Chicago.
Because of Chicago’s diverse cultural offerings, Uta Staley visits many establishments that cater to her love of the arts, music, and sports. Included among her list of favorite museums are The Field Museum, Museum of Science and Industry, Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago, Chicago History Museum, and the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum in Springfield. Uta Staley thoroughly enjoys listening to classical music, especially the works of Ludwig van Beethoven. She often attends performances of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and the Lyric Opera of Chicago. To support local sports teams, Uta Staley roots for the Chicago Bears, Chicago Bulls, and Chicago Cubs. In addition, she contributes to the Woman’s Athletic Club of Chicago and the Midtown Tennis Club Chicago. She recently transitioned from the travel and tourism industry to the investment industry, and now works as a self-employed investor. In her spare time, she finds pleasure in dance, reading, and the theater.
