WORK EXPERIENCE
Inventory Control Manager - Central Power Distributors - Anoka, Minnesota 2008 - 2008
Responsible for maintaining inventory of 37,000 skus for distribution centers in Anoka, MN, Menomonee, WI and Dayton, OH. Assigned project to interface AS/400 "i" series database (DB2 and OS400) with Microsoft Office products including Excel, Access, Query (SQL) and Word. The purpose of the project was to develop tools to make the ordering process more efficient, provide more accurate forecasts, generate suggested order quantities and process purchase orders.

Started my own business as a freight broker agent working under the authority and through a brokerage firm out of Medford, OR called "InTransit" (InTransit has since become a part of UTI.) My work consisted of finding shippers, customers, that needed freight moved and find or have in place a carrier to pickup and deliver the freight at a negotiated price. I concentrated on temperature controlled shipping moving truck loads throughout the 48 states, Canada and Mexico. I moved freight by truck, rail and container.Accomplishments
- Achieved largest annual gross sales percentage growth in InTransit history during the first six months of operations.
- Specialized in Truck Load temperature controlled shipments throughout the lower 48 states and Canada.
- Expanded into Less than Load temperature controlled shipments for processors and retail outlets.
Director of IT, H/R and Transportation - Western Boxed Meat Dist. - Portland, Oregon 1988 to 2005
Began as controller and quickly found myself wearing many "hats" in a fast growing business. I was responsible for the purchase, design and installation of three ERP systems and numerous enhancements as we modified the original distribution software to fit our changing needs. I developed H/R policies and procedures and wrote two employee manuals. Took over general management of the transportation department which consisted of 30 tractor-trailer units, about 40 employees and a half a doze contract carriers. Turned the department into a profit center by hiring freight brokers in 1993 in order to supplement delivery and backhauls which generated income to off set the cost of delivering company products. Designed and implemented WMS, TMS, H/R, financial and operation reports. I as ery much involved in operations in all departments except sales.
Accomplishments
- Four direct reports with responsibilities in Human Resources, Logistics, Fleet Management, IT Projects and Administration. Total responsibilities for approximately 75 employees.
- Worked to maintain a cooperative, team-oriented environment between direct labor and management.
- Project manager for construction, SOP rollouts, benefit changes and enrollment, union activities and any IT related initiatives.
- Responsible for the accuracy of all financial reporting and ERP system controls on AS/400 platforms ranging from "B" series to "i" series hardware.
- Maintained database structures including optical storage and indexing services.
- Tools for report generation included Query 400, ODBC, SQL, MS Query, MS Access, MS Word and proprietary software that I designed and contracted to programmers in RPG III, Visual Basic and AS/400 scripting.
