About Trevor Lane

Trevor Lane is a lifelong sales and marketing professional. He has been in customer facing roles since 1986 when he joined Scottish and Newcastle Breweries on their graduate recruitment programme. His career in various companies took him through field sales, promotions management, sales management, marketing management, new business development, training management, key account roles in the fmcg sector and international business development.

 

There had always been an ambition to be self employed and the right circumstances arose in 2006. One of the great things about being your own boss is that you create and decide on your own business agenda, direction, plans and timetable. This ability to manage and control your own destiny has led to the development and growth of two complimentary businesses.

 

The first business was established in 2006 - Bespoke Training Associates Ltd - and was the result of an ambition to focus full time on the development and training of sales people. 

 

This desire to focus on sales and sales people skill development has led to the launching of a website that is dedicated to sharing and spreading best practice in sales processes. The website is called www.bestpracticeexchange.com and its vision is to become "The Home of Web Based Sales Tools". In fact Business Link was so impressed with the concept that they invested just under £10k in grant funding to help launch the site.

 

The first online toolkit is live and is called the "Partner Management Programme" and it is focused on International Business Development. It takes users through the key five steps to successful international business management, namely; Market Prioritisation; Partner Selection; Partner Management; Partner Development Review and the Motivation Matrix.

 

The aim is to continue to grow these complimentary web based businesses that are focused on serving sales people and the sales community. Everyone should have affordable access to the right skills and sales tools throughout their sales career. It's Trevor's immersion and experience in sales that will give Best Practice Exchange the competitive edge; and understanding that customers matter; service and standards set you apart from the crowd; and really adding value to the customers needs will ensure customers return again and again.
