Bostonian native Tracy Hellenbrand is a public librarian with a deep-seated creative streak and remarkable artistic talent. Although deeply passionate about her librarian job, Tracy Hellenbrand's true passion is art. Over the course of her life, Tracy Hellenbrand has found that living in the historically rich city of Boston, Massachusetts has served to fuel her artistic inspiration. The melting pot of cultures, people, and landmarks serve as models for the characters and settings Tracy Hellenbrand loves to recreate in her own medium and style. Tracy Hellenbrand particularly enjoys classical pen and ink illustration and is currently working on illustrating several fairy tales that she has rewritten and modernized for the children of today's generation. One of Tracy Hellenbrand's chief inspirations is the children's poet and artist Shel Silverstein. On a daily basis, Tracy Hellenbrand leverages her creative skills toward her role as a librarian. In addition to her general duties, Tracy Hellenbrand is in charge of a multitude of library programs. For her favorite event, Banned Book Week, Tracy Hellenbrand comes up with a variety of fun, innovative ways to teach library patrons the importance of intellectual freedom. Being deeply involved in the art world, Tracy Hellenbrand possesses a deep understanding of how important the freedom to express an opinion that may be unorthodox is to the evolution of art. Tracy Hellenbrand possesses two degrees: a Bachelor of Arts in Literature and a Master of Library Science. During her undergraduate years, Tracy Hellenbrand spent a year studying in England, where she developed an interest in the beautiful and well-kept libraries of the "Old World." Since that time, Tracy Hellenbrand has set a goal to visit the world's most famous libraries. When she is not working at the library, Tracy Hellenbrand, who maintains strong connections to her hometown, can be found soaking up the local culture around Boston.
