About Tony Warner


Tony Warner is a professional footballer, who was born on May 11, 1974 in Liverpool, England. He is nicknamed “Tony bonus” for winning numerous bonuses and “Denzil” after the character Denzil in a television sitcom Only Fools and Horses.


Tony Warner started his international stint in 2006 with the Trinidad and Tobago national football team. On February 28, 2006, he made his debut for the Soca Warriors (Trinidad and Tobago) as a substitute in the second half of a friendly game against Iceland national team at Loftus Road.


Tony Warner began his football career, when he joined the Liverpool Football Club (FC) in 1994. During his tenure with Liverpool, he was loaned to Swindon Town, Celtic and Aberdeen and was also a part of the Celtic team that won the Rangers 5-1. He was a vital member of the team in the 1995-96 final of the Football Association Challenge Cup (FA). In 1999, he left his hometown club, Liverpool, and moved to Millwall making 225 appearances. During the 2000-01 season, he played for Millwall and eventually won the second level of Football League Second Division and also appeared in the final round of the FA Cup during 2003-04. Tony Warner was voted as the ‘Player of the Year’ for the 2002-03 season by Millwall fans.


In the summer of 2004, Tony Warner signed with the Cardiff City FC and made 30 appearances for the club in the 2004-05 season. After his stint with Cardiff City, he signed a loan with Fulham FC in August 2005, when the club suffered injury crisis. In January 2006, Tony Warner went on to become a regular member of the Fulham FC. Later that year, Leeds United signed him on a one month loan and made his debut for the team in the club’s 1-0 win against Norwich City. Soon after his loan deal with Leeds United, Tony Warner went on loan to Norwich City for the 2006-07 season to replace the injured goalkeeper, David Marshall.


In August 2007, Tony Warner was made as Fulham’s first choice goalkeeper following an injury to Antti Niemi, in the club’s match against Arsenal. Later that month, he played and kept a clean sheet in Fulham’s 1-0 win over the Shrewsbury Town FC. After a couple of appearances for Fulham, Tony Warner joined the Barnsley FC on loan for a month on January transfer deadline day and made his debut in a game against Coventry. On July 16, 2008, he signed a two year deal with the Hull City Association Football Club.
