Tomasz Kuszczak, born on March 20, 1982 in Krosno Odrzanskie, is a Polish goalkeeper. He represents Poland and entered the international arena on December 11, 2003 in a match against Malta, which Poland won 4-0. He was part of the 23-men Poland national football team who played at the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) World Cup 2006. In May 2008, Tomasz Kuszczak was chosen for the Euro 2008 Poland squad, but unfortunately had to opt out because of a back injury. As of 2008, he has capped 14 times for the Poland Under-21 team and five times at the senior level.


Tomasz Kuszczak was a part of ?l?sk Wroc?aw in Poland, and the German clubs KFC Uerdingen 05 and Hertha BSC Berlin, before he moved on to West Bromwich Albion, England on July 14, 2004. He debuted for the club in the Premier match against Fullham on September 18, 2004 that ended in a draw. During the 2004-05 season, his unbeaten 68-minute stint at the pitch in the Premier League match against Manchester United, earned Tomasz Kuszczak, the Man of the Match award for the first time. His impressive performance against Portsmouth helped West Brom win the match 2-0 and he maintained a clean sheet. His match-winning save against Jason Roberts of Wigan on January 15, 2006 was voted the Save of the Season by the viewers of Match of the Day TV program on BBC. Tomasz Kuszczak moved on to Manchester United on August 10, 2006 on a season long loan and played his first Premier League match for the club against Arsenal on September 17, 2006. In this match, Tomasz Kuszczak saved a penalty kick by Gilberto Silva, which is one of the best saves in his career. On July 2, 2007, Manchester United publically announced the permanent transfer of Tomasz Kuszczak to the club. He received a winner’s medal for the successive seasons 2006-07 and 2007-08 by special application to the Premier League. He was awarded the Save of the Season for the season 2007-08, this time by the Daily mail. He was part of the team that won the United European Football Association (UEFA) Champions League 2008.


Tomasz Kuszczak loves making friends, reading books based on football, listening to the Manchester United song and watching Barclays Premier League on his television and playing scrabble.
