Todd Witteles is an American professional poker player from Las Vegas, Nevada born in 1972. Todd Witteles comes from an interesting background, as he pursued a university education in Computer Science and became a computer scientist, however, despite his passion for computer, Witteles decided to abandon his former dream for a full time pursuit of poker in 2003. Todd Witteles is known by his poker opponents as a cash game player. Todd Witteles only entered his first tournament in 2005 just in time for the World Series of Poker. For his first time, Witteles played quite a solid poker game in the $1,500 Limit Texas Hold’em event where he finished 3rd place out of a total of 1,049 entrants and the final table was debuted on ESPN for live coverage. From that event, Witteles took home over $116,000 after taking a loss to the then-21 year old Eric Froehlich. During that tournament, Witteles used a small Head & Shoulders shampoo bottle to protect his cards while playing, hence, his online poker name of “Dan Druff”.
Shortly after his first success, Todd Witteles entered his second tournaments at the 2005 World Series of Poker (WSOP) where he played the $3,000 Limit Hold’em event and bested his previous tournament game by finishing an incredible 1st place. It was in this 2005 WSOP tournament that Todd Witteles earned himself his first World Series of Poker gold bracelet and mover $347,385. Furthermore, to add more glory to his first place win, Witteles set a World Series of Poker record, as no other player in history has finished better in their first 2 events. Todd Witteles was also named by the CardPlayer Magazine as the 2005 World Series of Poker Player of the Year.
Todd Witteles also picked up another 2nd and 6th place wins in Los Angeles tournaments. But Witteles next biggest cash game came when he finished 4th place at the Caribbean Poker Classic where he took home over $87,000 at the final table of the major No Limit Hold’em event.
At the 2006 World Series of Poker, Todd Witteles finished in 12th place at the $1,500 Limit Hold’em Shootout and earned a prize of $34,589. Todd Witteles owns a portion of the popular neverwinpoker.com forum where he participates on a regular basis and offers free poker strategy advice. Furthermore, he also hosts two internet radio programs that are broadcasted from his site. In March 2008, Todd Witteles was selected among either other top online poker players to participate in ESPN’s “Online Poker Think Tank”.
