Todd Rhodes - Professional Experience:
Todd currently holds the role of Asia Pacific Managing Director for Silverpeak Real Estate Partners. Todd leads a team of finance and real estate professionals that manage a portfolio of investments on behalf of several global private equity funds. Assets under management include real estate focused interests in public companies, joint ventures, development projects, value creation opportunities and fee generating platforms. Additionally, Todd is responsible for reviewing new and strategic investment decisions for the region. Asset Management and Risk Management responsibilities span six countries and include Singapore, Thailand, Korea, Japan, India and China.
Previously, Todd was the Managing Director and Vice President of Group Risk Management for the Mortgage Capital division of RBC Capital Markets. As a member of the Senior Leadership team, Todd was a key participant in building the platform and establishing the infrastructure for loan originations, risk management, asset management and placements. Todd acted as the Credit Committee Chairman and was responsible for reviewing and approving all CMBS and Fannie Mae loans nationally. He managed a staff of Loan Underwriters, Closing Specialists and Asset Managers. He was actively involved in the loan securitization and the loan placement process, which included interacting with capital markets personnel, rating agencies, investors, legal counsel, and Fannie Mae.
Prior to RBC, Todd spent 16 years with the Real Estate division of GE Commercial Finance, where he held a variety of positions and leadership roles within Risk Management, Asset Management and Sales. Work locations included Chicago, Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver, Sydney, Tokyo, and Dallas.
From 2002 to 2006 he served as the Director of Risk Management for the North American CMBS Program. During 2000 to 2002, he was the Managing Director of GE Real Estate's Australia business platform, and head of Asia Pacific's New Business Development Team. Prior to that, Todd spent 5 years in Toronto, Canada where he led GE Real Estate's Asset Management Group, responsible for a US$2.8 billion portfolio of debt, equity and non-performing loan investments. In that role he served as the owner representative for several joint ventures and companies with partners including Goldman Sachs/Whitehall, Westmount Hospitality, OMERS, and a US$1.0 billion company formed with Oxford Properties. During his tenure with the Canadian operation, Todd and his teams were responsible for underwriting and closing more than US$2.0 billion in real estate acquisitions.
Prior to GE, Todd worked for The Balcor Company, a Shearson Lehman property syndication business, based in Chicago, Illinois, where he served as an Investor Representative and a Fund Portfolio Analyst.
