A General Partner at Institutional Venture Partners (IVP), Todd Clayton Chaffee joined the thirty year old firm in March 2000, following a successful career at Fortune 500 companies, including American Express, Wells Fargo, TRW Information Systems, and Visa. Eventually rising to become the youngest Executive Vice President in Visa’s history, Todd Chaffee oversaw Corporate Development, Advanced Technology, Strategic Planning, and Equity Investments for Visa. In 1995, as President of Visa’s investment subsidiary, Mr. Chaffee founded and successfully led Visa’s venture capital program, generating more than $1.2 billion in gains with an internal rate of return in excess of 243 percent.
During the past fifteen years, Mr. Chaffee has led investments in highly successful corporations, such as Akamai (AKAM), ArcSight (ARST), Ariba (ARBA), ComScore (SCOR), Digital River (DRIV), HomeAway, Kayak, Netflix (NFLX), Nuance Communications (NUAN), Omniture (OMTR), Twitter, VeriSign (VRSN), and Yahoo (YHOO).
With $3 billion in committed capital, IVP recently raised its 13th fund. Exceeding its original target of $600 million, the firm has raised $750 million for the oversubscribed fund. IVP continues to target investments in rapidly growing, market leading companies in the media, technology, and travel industries.
