Dr. Toby Anderson acquired his ability to maintain composure in high stress situations as a Light Infantryman in the United States Army. Serving from 1987 to 1991 in Fort Drum, New York, he was a member of the 10th Mountain Division and remained in the inactive reserves until being honorably discharged in 1996. Following his time in the active military, Dr. Toby Anderson began his academic career at Lee University in Cleveland, Tennessee, focusing his education on biology while minoring in Spanish and biblical studies. Dr. Toby Anderson has used his Spanish fluency to assist in Spanish-speaking medical facilities and lecture on the accurate bilingual usage of medical terminology. To pursue his Doctor of Medicine, he enrolled at the University of Tennessee Heath Science Center’s College of Medicine, where he earned recognition as a Medical Underserved Areas Scholar all four years. In 2001, Dr. Toby Anderson began an accelerated residency program at the university’s St. Francis-Memphis Hospital. Thriving in this fast-paced setting, Dr. Toby Anderson served at the Chief Resident his senior year, in 2004, and earned board certification on his first attempt.
