Established in 1983, The Option Institute is the culmination of founders Barry “Bears” Neil Kaufman and Samahria Lyte Kaufman’s life’s work of teaching The Option Process. Both serving as teachers and leaders at The Option Institute, the Kaufmans assist in training people in finding ways to live more fulfilling and happy lives.
Located on a 100-acre campus on the Berkshire Mountains in Massachusetts, The Option Institute features workshops, classes, and lectures open to those wishing to enrich their personal relationships, health, and confidence. Serving clients from more than 80 countries, Barry and Samahria Kaufman have taught The Option Process since 1972. They also offer several dozen published books and lecture CDs available for those unable to travel to The Option Institute personally.
Focusing on the deceptively simple precept of happiness being a conscious choice, The Option Institute and its teachings have been featured in major media outlets across the globe. Providing a variety of course choices, levels, and lengths, including consolidated weekend workshops, The Option Institute offers a spectrum of on-site lodgings. The campus shares a border with the Appalachian Trail, and features a variety of seasonal outdoors activities in the surrounding area, as well as ample exercise facilities on campus.
