Terry Jones Orchard: Terry Jones has dedicated his 35-year career to education at every level. As an instructor at San Jose State University and San Francisco State University, Terry Jones taught courses in Elementary and Secondary Education. As a Principal and Superintendent, Terry Jones developed and implemented educational projects ranging from extracurricular activities to charter school models. In the early 1990s, Terry Jones conducted a yearlong census in a Santa Cruz, California, community to complete a blueprint for a successful charter school. Based on Terry Jones' report, a group of local entrepreneurs commissioned him to design the institution. The California Department of Education granted Delta Charter School its status in spring 1994. Under Terry Jones' leadership, Delta Charter School began offering alternative educational opportunities to at-risk students in the community. Delta Charter School continues to thrive there today. In addition to this successful venture, Terry Jones assisted Orchard School District Educational Services in obtaining $250,000 in grants from corporations based in Santa Cruz, enabling the district to implement numerous after-school programs. Terry Jones also campaigned for funding in bonds. He acquired $60 million to alter school and class sizes to accommodate the growing student body and provided access to resources for underachieving students. Featured in Academic Keys and Who's Who in Higher Education, Terry Jones earned a Master's degree in Education Administration from St. Mary's College.
