Company involved with direct liaison between Insurance company and client with regard to rectification of private households damaged due to storm,flood,fire etc . .

Directly responsible for 40 field staff of various trades and 10 administrative office based staff.

(company ceased trading December 2009)

September 2002-August 2008 P.C.E Ltd Heywood                                               

General Manager.

Company manufacture and assemble metal equipment for a wide range of customers including automotive, shop fitting, and electrical hardware.

Directly responsible for 35 employees including all aspects of production control, health and safety, shift rotation, recruitment and all personnel issues. .

Over the six year period in this position monthly turnover increased 18% and overall profit by 3%.

(Made redundant August 2008).

June 1999- August 2002  Anochrome Finishing Heywood

Self Employed.

Established the company to provide zinc plating and other metal finishing processes to local engineering companies..

From conception company grew and within four months employed five additional staff.

(sold interest to take up job offer September 2002)

Overall responsibility for all manufacturing aspects. Supported by several departmental foremen, was ultimately responsible for production planning and control, machine selection and maintenance, cost estimations, training , health and safety standards, performance reviews, human and material resources.

Machine shop Foreman

Direct supervision of 22 assorted skill machine operatives and process operators.

Machines included mostly C.N.C. Centre lathes, Machine centres, Gear cutters, Vertical and Horizontal Borers, Surface grinding, Broaching,

The department also housed Cyanide case hardening and Tufftriding.

Responsible for day to day supervision, machine loading, skill rotation, problem solving, health and safety, material issuing,

September 1981- January 1984 Nauticair Components Ltd Rochdale

Technical Administrative Assistant

Assistant to M.D. Small manufacturing facility employing some 14 operatives in the production of valves, mouldings, small assemblies and associated equipment for inflatable boats and survival equipment industry.

Duties included, raw material sourcing and purchase, machine loading schedules and manning levels, process set ups, inspection procedures, hands on machine set up, product sampling, stores control, general administrative duties from goods in control, batch management through to goods despatch and invoice.

August 1975- September 1981

Skilled Machine shop Operative (including apprenticeship)

Including one year off the job training and vocational attendance at college.

Trained in all aspects of setting and running a wide selection of machine tools including, capstan lathes, horizontal and vertical borers, gear cutters and hobbers, vertical and horizontal millers, cylindrical grinders, and centre lathes.

In my last two years as skilled operative I was involved in the production of spare parts manufacture for customer breakdowns, this involved the complete manufacture from order to finished item in quick turn round to reduce customer down time, which conerd the use of several different machine tools.
