Tanmay Srivastava, nicknamed ‘Toshu’, is a professional cricketer, who was born on November 7, 1989 in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, India.
This left-handed batsman has captained the India Under-19 (U-19) team in the Test matches against Sri Lanka in August 2007, in which he led by an example with his impressive scores of 117 and 87.
During the 2008 Indian U-19 team’s tour of South Africa, to play One Day International Matches, Tanmay Srivastava scored a century with an unbeaten 105, and in the following match, he scored a half-century along with picking up three wickets to help his team win by six wickets. Tanmay Srivastava went on to play at the U-19 World Cup in Malaysia as the Indian team’s key player. He lived up to the reputation, as he emerged as the tournament’s highest scorer with 262 runs, which includes his vital knock of 43 in the finals against South Africa, which helped India to lift the World Cup.
Tanmay Srivastava made his First-class debut for Uttar Pradesh in the 2006-07 Irani Trophy against the Rest of India in Nagpur. During the Ranji Trophy 2007-08 season, he scored a century with 105 runs for Uttar Pradesh against Delhi with 14 fours and 1 six. In the same tournament, he also scored 81 runs against Hyderabad.
Tanmay Srivastava played his first List A match in October 2006 against India Green in Chennai. In this series, he played in 3 matches and scored 104 runs at an average of 52.00, which includes a century with 102 runs.
Tanmay Srivastava made his Twenty20 (T20) debut on April 3, 2007 against Railways at Jaipur. He was signed by the Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Kings XI Punjab, and he made his IPL debut on April 27, 2008 against Delhi Daredevils, the game which his team won by 4 wickets with 3 balls to spare.
Had not been a cricketer, Tanmay Srivastava would have been a social worker. Apart from playing cricket, he enjoys listening to music and surfing the internet.
