Tang Yiu, a citizen of Hong Kong, is on the Forbes magazine with a net worth of $1.0 billion. His fortune is derived from his retail footwear industry Belle International.

Tang Yiu and Belle International

In 1991, Tang Yiu started Belle International as a wholesale manufacturer of footwear. Tang Yiu was also a director in another footwear company named Lai Kong Footwear in 1994.

It was only in 1994 that Tang Yiu’s own company, Belle International, expanded into the retail business. Apart from manufacturing and marketing several of their own brands, they also market licensed brands of footwear, such as Nike, Adidas, and Reebok.

Belle International’s own brands include Belle, Staccato, Teenmix, Tata, and Fato. Apart from footwear, Belle International has also made a name for itself in marketing sportswear from famous brands like Levi, Puma, and Converse. The Belle International Group holds a major percentage of the market share in women’s shoe retailing in China.

Tang Yiu, who is now 74, is the Chairman and Executive director of Belle International. He has been in the footwear manufacture and retail industry for more than thirty years. The entire group looks up to him for his guidance and immense knowledge of the footwear industry.

Tang Yiu was a controlling shareholder in Profit Leader Holdings Limited, Profit Discovery Limited, and High Summit Group Limited. Apart from that, he was also the director in each of the companies.

Tang Yiu is the current Chairman of The Federation of Hong Kong Footwear Ltd. which works and involves itself in a number of business activities for the development of the footwear industry in Hong Kong. Tang Yiu is a member of the Council due to his immense knowledge and outstanding achievements in the footwear industry.

Tang Yiu is an important member of the Chinese People’s Consultative Conference in the Sanshui District of Foshan in China. In 2004, he was honored by the Foshan Municipality with the Certificate of Foshan Honorary Citizenship.

Tang Yiu has a 38 year-old daughter named Tang Ming Wai. She studied in the University of Texas where she received her business degree. In 2008, Tang Ming Wai became a part of the board of the Belle International Group as an executive director. On November 2009, Tang Yiu transferred his interest in Profit Discovery Limited to his daughter as a gift. Profit Discovery Limited is an indirect stake-holder of Belle International.
