Sydney Sparrow

Artist Sydney Sparrow is currently studying painting at the New Hampshire Institute of Art in Manchester. She is committed to sharpening her talents on top of an already accomplished career that includes a wide variety of exhibition showings throughout the United States. Based in a realist style, Ms. Sparrow uses a warm spectrum of oil paints to create still life artwork that emphasizes the harmonious beauty existing between natural objects and handcrafted items. These pieces, which highlight Sydney Sparrow’s deft and detailed brushwork, are the reason she is considered one of New England’s most distinguished artists. Sydney Sparrow’s work first became prominent in 2004 during her first group show at the Gallery at 100 Market Street in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. Following additional group showings in Portsmouth at galleries such as the Anderson-Soule Gallery and Wentworth-Coolidge Mansion, Ms. Sparrow expanded her work’s reach with two solo shows, “Hearts Desire” and “Representing Real,” both at the Bowersock Gallery in Cape Cod, Massachusetts. Collaborating with fellow artists like Sean Beavers and Dana Levin, Ms. Sparrow also presented the shows “Earth to Sky” at the St. Botolph Club in Boston, and “Beyond Beauty” at the Banks Gallery in Portsmouth. In 2008, she further expanded her artistic exposure when her pieces were displayed as part of the Fort Wayne Museum of Art’s Contemporary Realism Biennial in Indiana. One year later, the Spotlight on the Arts Awards named Sydney Sparrow their Outstanding Representational Artist of 2009. Most recently, Sydney Sparrow participated in the Fort Wayne Museum of Art’s 2010 Contemporary Realism Biennial. Additionally, a permanent collection of her paintings hangs at the Florence Griswold Museum in Old Lyme, Connecticut. When not attending school, Sydney Sparrow resides in New England; she has also lived in both New York City and Chicago.  Represented by galleries in the state of Maine and others.
