About Susan Doherty
Susan Doherty - Professional Summary: I trained as a humanistic integrative counsellor in 1997. I choose from a range of counselling approaches, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, to tailor therapy to each individual client and I base all counselling on person-centred values.
Susan Doherty - Professional Experience: I have worked in the field of substance misuse, primary care and the further education sector. Whilst working as a college counsellor, I provided counselling therapy to students and members of staff and offered workshops on a range of topics relating to emotional health.
Susan Doherty - Education: From a background in nursing, I commenced counselling training in 1994 and was awarded a Diploma of Higher Education (with Distinction) from John Moores University, Liverpool in 1997.
I have gained qualifications in Working with Survivors of Childhood Sexual Abuse, Brief Counselling, Training, Teacher Training (Adults/Further Education) and Working with Children and Young People. At present, I am studying for the M.A. in Counselling Studies at the University of Chester.
I was awarded BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) Accreditation in 2004 and I am a UKRCP Registered Independent Counsellor
Susan Doherty - Interests: My professional interests include working with young people, addictions, spirituality, life's transitions, depression, anxiety, loss, personal development , assertiveness, anger management and confidence-building.
I offer workshops and group sessions on assertiveness, coping with stress and anger management.
