About Susan Bestul
Susan Bestul - Professional Summary: Susan Bestul, cellist, received her Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music and continued her studies with Aldo Parisot at Yale University. Other teachers have included Lynn Harrell, Zara Nelsova, Theo Salzman, Jack Kirstein and Peter Wiley. From 1979 - 1999 Susan served as the principal cellist for both the Cincinnati Chamber Orchestra and the Cincinnati Ballet Orchestra, in addition to performing frequently with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, the Cincinnati Pops Orchestra and the Cincinnati Opera Orchestra. She has toured extensively with these groups, including numerous performances in Carnegie Hall as well as at the Casals Festival in San Juan, Puerto Rico. After moving to Madison, WI in 2000, Susan was a founding member of the Ancora String Quartet and also performed with the Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra, including playing principal cello for the “Concerts on the Square” held in the summer at the Capitol. Other orchestral positions she has held include the Caracas (Venezuela) Philharmonic, the Chamber Orchestra of New England, the Filarmonica de las Americas in Mexico City, the Atlantic Chamber Orchestra, the Palm Beach Pops and the Florida Orchestra. Currently Susan performs with the Sarasvati Trio and the Cleveland Pops Orchestra.
