Biblical scholar Susana Funsten served as a Visiting Professor at Loyola Marymount College from 2008 to 2009 after completing teaching fellowships and adjunct professorships at the Claremont School of Theology, Occidental College, and Azusa Pacific University. A doctoral candidate in Religion and New Testament Studies at Claremont Graduate University School of Religion, Susana Funsten will earn her Ph.D. in 2010. Susana Funsten also holds an M.A. in Theological Studies from Claremont School of Theology and an M.S. in Public Health with an Emphasis on Health Planning from UCLA. During her undergraduate tenure at Harvard University, Susana Funsten studied anthropology. A dedicated academic, Susana Funsten actively delivers lectures and publishes on various topics in Biblical studies. Recently, Susana Funsten presented at the annual conference for the Society for Biblical Literature on topics in the Gospel of Matthew. Susana Funsten is also devoted to sharing her expertise with fellow congregants and community members at St. Brendan Catholic Church in Los Angeles, where she is currently teaching a course on the Gospel of Luke for adult Bible study students. Born in San Salvador, El Salvador, Susana Funsten maintains charitable connections with Fundación Herbert de Sola, La Casa de Mi Padre, and INCAE. Susana Funsten is also involved with the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra, Los Angeles Public Library, UCLA Alumni Association, Harvard-Radcliffe Club of Southern California, Children's Institute International, and Childrens Hospital Los Angeles. In her spare time, Susana Funsten enjoys cooking, traveling, and listening to classical music. Susana Funsten lives in California with her husband and has three grown daughters.
