Subramaniam Badrinath is an international cricketer, who was born on August 30, 1980 in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India.
This right-handed batsman is included in the Indian squad for the first two Test matches of the four-Test match series against Australia at home in October 2008.
Subramaniam Badrinath has played for the Indian Board President’s XI, and he was included in the 30 man provincial squad for the 2007 Cricket World Cup. In 2007, he played well for the India A team during its tours to Zimbabwe and Kenya, and against the South African team at home. In October that year, for the last three one-day matches against Australia, Subramaniam Badrinath was called to play for India, but was not given a place in the playing eleven. It was on August 20, 2008 that he made his One Day International (ODI) debut for India against Sri Lanka at Dambulla.
Subramaniam Badrinath started playing the First-class cricket during the 2000-01 season for Tamil Nadu and came to limelight when he scored 636 runs from 7 matches during the 2005-06 season. Subramaniam Badrinath was nearly the top scorer of the season, falling 36 runs short of Amol’s Muzumdar 672 runs in 8 matches. The next season, he collected 436 runs at an average of almost 50, and during the 2007-08 Ranji Trophy season, he scored 659 runs at an average of 65.90. As of 2008, Subramaniam Badrinath played in 63 First-class matches and scored 4586 runs, which included 15 centuries and 20 half-centuries, with his highest score being 206 not out.
Subramaniam Badrinath played his first Twenty20 (T20) game on April 3, 2007 for Tamil Nadu against Andhra Pradesh. He was signed by Chennai Super Kings, an Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise. He made his IPL debut on April 19, 2008 against Kings XI Punjab and scored a quick 31 not out of 14 balls, in which his team won by 33 runs. On May 10, 2008, Subramaniam Badrinath was the top scorer in the Chennai Super Kings’ 18 runs win over Kings XI Punjab with 64 runs of 47 balls. He ended the IPL season with 192 runs, which includes two fifties in 16 innings at a strike rate of 147.69.
