About Stuart Pivar
Stuart Pivar - An Introduction
A renaissance man well versed in artistic and scientific thinking, Stuart Pivar is a gifted writer who has composed several influential texts throughout his professional career. Mr. Pivar wrote an authoritative catalogue raisonné encompassing the oeuvre of Antoine-Louis Barye's bronzes entitled, "The Barye Bronzes: A Catalogue Raisonné." Published in 1974 by Antique Collectors Club, Pivar's text details the work of the French artisan who worked in the Animaliers school. Stuart Pivar's book is referenced by auction houses and galleries whenever Barye works are exhibited or sold. The work was reprinted in the 1990s, and it is still very much in demand. Mr. Stuart Pivar has curated many art gallery exhibitions as well as authored numerous art catalogues.
More recently, Stuart Pivar has authored several scientific texts based on his research into the origins of life and evolution, most notably addressing self-organization.
An art collector, entrepreneur, businessman, and scientist, Stuart Pivar is also a musician, supporting musical artists and the opera. From an early age, Mr. Pivar was captivated by both artistic and scientific ideas. Stuart Pivar has an academic and professional background in the hard sciences, specifically chemistry and biology. He is a fixture in the New York art community and enjoys collecting art and natural history specimens.
