Steven James Sidwell, popularly known as Steven Sidwell, is an English footballer who plays central midfield. He was born on December 14, 1982 in Wandsworth, England and married Krystell on June 19, 2005, with whom he has a son named Harry. Lee Sidwell, the brother of Steven Sidwell, is also a football player for AFC Wimbledon in the Combined Counties Football League Division One.


Steven Sidwell started his career with Arsenal’s youth club and was a part of the team which won the FA Youth Cup in both the 1999-2000 and 2000-01 seasons. In August 2001, he moved to Arsenal’s senior team as a trainee and stayed in the club till January 2003. In the autumn of 2001, Steven Sidwell was loaned by Steve Coppell, the manager of Brentford, and made 35 appearances for this football club.


In July 2002, he then was signed on loan by KSK Beveren Football Club. In November 2002, he was loaned again by Steve Coppell, who was then the manager of Brighton & Hove Albion Football Club. Steven Sidwell scored 5 goals in 12 appearances for the club, before signing with Reading on January 2003. During that summer, he became the first Reading player to be featured in England’s Under-21 national team.


In 2004, Steven Sidwell was voted as the best player outside the Premiership after a poll was conducted by Four Four Two magazine. He was also named the Football League's second best player in the first ever Football League Awards ceremony in 2005. Steven Sidwell was with Reading when it won the Football League Championship-Level 2 in 2005-06 season. He appeared in 187 games in total for the club and scored 30 goals in total. Impressed with his performance, Chelsea Football Club signed him in May 2007, and he appeared in 25 games for the club. While he was a part of the team, Chelsea went on to become the runners-up in the 2007-08 Premier League and the 2007-08 UEFA Champions League. Steven Sidwell was signed by Aston Villa Football Club in July 2008 for a fee of £5 million.


Steven Sidwell considers Andy Gray, a Scottish football player, to be his professional idol. He spends his leisure time reading books, playing video games and watching movies. His favorite film is Rocky and his favorite movie star is Al Pacino. He enjoys listening to Elvis Presley’s music and likes Christina Aguilera.
