Steven Kaufman - Professional Summary:    

 

Steven Kaufman is a senior business executive with more than two decades of experience increasing efficiency and strengthening the overall competitive strategy of various companies. Mr. Kaufman currently serves as an Operating Partner at Boston-based Riverside Partners, LLC, a private equity firm investing in health and technology companies. Steven Kaufman has also served as the CEO of Alteris Renewables, Inc., one of the Northeast’s largest installers of renewable energy systems. Alteris was developed as a result of Riverside Partners, LLC’s investment in four different emerging solar companies. Alteris recently merged with Real Goods Solar, and Mr. Kaufman now serves on Real Goods Solar’s Board of Directors.

Prior to his current leadership roles, Steven Kaufman established his career at a number of companies across the country. Before joining Riverside Partners, LLC, Mr. Kaufman was the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the telecommunications company Avici Systems in North Billerica, Massachusetts. After leading the company for a year following an initial public offering (IPO), Steven Kaufman became President and CEO. He increased the company's revenues, winning major international customers, and achieving an industry-leading product reliability level of 99.999%.

Mr. Kaufman has also gained experience with Lucent Technologies, first as the General Manager of Consumer Microelectronics at the Allentown, Pennsylvania, office. Later, he was promoted to Vice President and General Manager of Core Switching in Westford, Massachusetts. He became President of the Multiservice Core Networks division, a $2B business. His earliest professional experience came from the Intel Corporation in Santa Clara, California.

Steven Kaufman earned a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Brown University, graduating magna cum laude. He went on to earn a Master of Business Administration (MBA), graduating with distinction from Harvard Business School. He completed his education with a Master of Science in Computer Science, specializing in systems and data communications, from Stanford University.
