An executive at global elevator components and services companies for more than 20 years, Kent Sterrett Lloyd earned a degree in electronic engineering after studying at Indiana University and Purdue University. Early in his career, he worked as a service representative for Mid America Elevator and as a branch manager for Schindler Elevator and Abell Elevator. In 1992, Kent Sterrett Lloyd earned the position of president at Abell Elevator International in Louisville, Kentucky. Under his leadership, Abell recruited top technicians and sales personnel, opened offices in Mexico and the Caribbean, and grew to become North America’s largest independent elevator installation and service company.
Building upon his experience with Abell, Sterrett Lloyd took on the position of president for Rocky Mount, North Carolina-based Draka Elevator Products in 2001. In charge of the company’s overall operations, market growth, and product development, he has orchestrated Draka’s expansion from one facility with 150 staff members to a global enterprise with over 800 employees and commercial and distribution affiliates in numerous countries, including Brazil, Canada, China, Singapore, Italy, and the Czech Republic. During his tenure, Sterrett Lloyd has also overseen 900% sales increases and the diversification of Draka’s product line, positioning the company as a leader not only in cable manufacture and supply, but also in comprehensive elevator solutions.
Along with his duties at Draka, Sterrett Lloyd serves as a board member and vice president of the National Elevator Industry, Inc., and as a board member and treasurer of the National Association of Elevator Contractors.
