Stephen Shellman - Professional Summary:     

 

Stephen Shellman has experience in a number of professional capacities. Since 2008, Mr. Shellman has functioned as President, Chief Executive Officer, and Chief Scientist for Strategic Analysis Enterprises (SAE), Inc. A state-of-the-art data collection and statistical modeling firm, SAE analyzes the impact of global events and their potential effect on U.S. national security.

Concurrently, Stephen Shellman serves as a Research Scientist with The College of William & Mary’s Institute for the Theory and Practice of International Relations, based in Williamsburg, Virginia. In this role, Mr. Shellman directs the College’s Violent Intranational Political Conflict and Terrorism Research Laboratory (VIPCAT), which he created in 2007. VIPCAT clients include governmental agencies such as the Office of Naval Research and the Department of Defense. Stephen Shellman is also a member of the Board of Advisors for the Foundation for the Defense of Democracies’ Future of Terrorism Project.

Stephen M. Shellman’s career history includes the positions of researcher, instructor, software developer, and business manager. Widely published and the winner of numerous private and federal grants, Mr. Shellman continues to receive regular invitations to present his research at an array of conferences and symposia. He has garnered diverse professional honors over his career, including multiple awards for teaching and inclusion in Who’s Who in America 2011.

Stephen Shellman holds a Ph.D. in Political Science from The Florida State University. Finishing his doctorate in 2003, Mr. Shellman’s dissertation, Taking Turns: A Theory and Model of Government-Dissident Interactions, also won the Peace Science Society (International)’s Walter Isard Award for the Best Dissertation in Peace Science. Prior to completing his graduate degree, Steve Shellman also earned an M.S. and a B.S. in Political Science.
