Stefani Carter

Professional Summary:  

 

Stefani Carter began her legal career as a Clerk with Vinson & Elkins in Washington, D.C. and Dallas. After graduating from law school in 2005, Carter accepted an offer to join the firm as a full-time Associate. In 2007, Carter earned a role as a Prosecutor at the Collin County District Attorney’s Office in McKinney, Texas. In this position, she gained experience in a courtroom setting, arguing more than 70 cases before juries and securing numerous convictions for perpetrators of assault and theft. After a tenure with the District Attorney’s Office, Carter became an Associate at Sayles Werbner, a small multi-specialty law firm in Dallas.  She is currently in private practice.

Throughout her career, Stefani Carter has achieved a number of significant accomplishments in a variety of legal fields. In one particular case, Stefani Carter represented a small energy company in prosecuting a $6 billion energy company for allegedly breaching contractual obligations and fiduciary duties. She successfully counseled her client and defended it against motions for summary judgment and motions to dismiss. Additionally, she has gained significant experience in a diverse range of cases involving product liability, anti-trust securities, political asylum, and commercial property.

Stefani Carter also maintains several professional and civic affiliations, including active membership in the State Bar of Texas and the Dallas Bar Association. In addition to serving on the Richardson Chamber of Commerce and speaking at the Dallas Jewish Community Foundation, Carter also served as General Counsel for the Texas Young Republican Federation. In 2010, she won her campaign to become a Texas State Representative in House District 102, which covers areas of northern Dallas, Richardson Lake Highlands, and Garland.

Stefani Carter holds a J.D. from Harvard Law School and a Master in Public Policy from the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University. Carter spent her undergraduate years at the University of Texas at Austin, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Government and a Bachelor of Journalism in News and Public Affairs.
