Stand for Children, an education nonprofit, works to ensure that
all children, regardless of their background, graduate from high school
prepared for, and with access to, a college education. Founded in 1996
by Jonah Edelman and Eliza Leighton, the organization works in eleven
states to ensure every child can benefit from excellent public schools.
To ensure that children get the education that they deserve, Stand for
Children works to make grassroots changes, starting with parents,
teachers, community leaders, and business owners. Through Stand
for Children’s Leadership Center, staff and volunteers educate everyday
people how to raise their voice and advocate for effective local and
state education policies in order to improve the odds for children.
Additionally, the Stand University for Parents offers a 10-week,
research-based family engagement program for elementary school parents.
