About Srinivas Anumolu
Srinivas Anumolu has 20 years of experience in the finance and software industries. Applying the expertise he garnered at prominent finance firms, Srinivas Anumolu founded Elance, Inc., an online service that connects freelancers with employers, in 1999.
Srinivas Anumolu graduated from the Bachelor of Science program at the highly regarded Indian Institute of Technology Madras. Subsequently, Srinivas Anumolu commenced additional studies at the Indian Institute of Management Calcutta, receiving a Postgraduate Diploma in Management with a focus on finance and accounting. Srinivas Anumolu then enrolled in the Anderson School of Management at the University of California at Los Angeles, completing Ph.D. coursework in finance, economics, and statistics.
Following his studies, Srinivas Anumolu joined Barra, Inc. in 1990, as a Product Manager. Barra is a leading financial software company, and Srinivas Anumolu developed mortgage-backed security (MBS) and collateralized mortgage obligation (CMO) software models for the company. Srinivas Anumolu also implemented complex, computerized financial analyses, collaborating with highly placed clients at large financial institutions.
In 1994, Srinivas Anumolu accepted the Director position at New York Life. In this role, Srinivas Anumolu analyzed treasury, corporate, and mortgage-backed security bonds. Srinivas Anumolu oversaw the development of in-house financial software tools and managed multi-billion dollar portfolios, consistently beating benchmark indices.
Srinivas Anumolu founded Elance in 1999, aggregating freelance workers in programming, design, writing, sales, finance, and a range of other industries. Elance provides a simple method of accessing and evaluating temporary workers anywhere in the world, and within a few years, Elance had grown into the leading global talent marketplace. At Elance, Srinivas Anumolu managed over 200 employees, implemented growth strategies, and raised nearly $100 million in venture capital.
In 2005, Srinivas Anumolu accepted an additional, short-term position as a Director of ecommerce at Amazon India, where he helped to develop products and business strategies. Srinivas Anumolu enjoys reading and music in his free time, and he contributes to the Sierra Club, Greenpeace, and Amnesty International.
