Srikkanth Anirudh, born on April 14, 1987 in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India, is a right-handed batsman. This attacking opener, who is nicknamed “Ani”, is the son of former Indian cricketer Krishnamachari Srikkanth, who was a Test opener and also the captain of the Indian cricket team.


At the international level, Srikkanth Anirudh was picked for the India Under-19 team to play against the touring England Under-19 team in 2004-05 and helped India win the series 4-1. During the fourth match of the series against England played at Eden Gardens, Kolkata, Srikkanth Anirudh set up an unbeaten opening partnership of 178 with teammate Ankit Rawat and wrapped up the match in the 29th over itself. His individual score was 88, which contained thirteen fours and three sixes, from 74 balls. He maintained his momentum and gave a commendable performance in the last match too, smashing 143 runs out of 113 balls, with eighteen boundaries and five sixes.


In the 2003-04 season, Srikkanth Anirudh made his First-class cricket debut for the Tamil Nadu Ranji team. Srikkanth Anirudh played in the Ranji Trophy Super League match against Karnataka between November 23 and November 26, 2007, which ended in a draw. As of 2008, he has played in ten matches and scored a total of 318 runs. He has two half-centuries to his credit and his highest score is 86 runs.


In the 2003-04 season, Srikkanth Anirudh made his List A debut for the Tamil Nadu team and till 2008, he has played 18 matches, amassing 351 runs, including a 50. He has maintained a good strike rate of 95.64 and has scored a highest of 74 runs at this level. On April 4, 2008, he played in the 3rd quarter-final of the Vijay Hazare Trophy against Mumbai.


On April 3, 2007, Srikkanth Anirudh made his Twenty20 (T20) debut for the Tamil Nadu team against Andhra at Visakhapatnam. He was the fourth-highest run-scorer in the 2007 season at the domestic level in the T20 version and this performance earned him a place in the list of the thirty probable players selected for the International Cricket Council (ICC) World T20 and the India Greens squad for the 2007-08 Challenger Trophy. During the Indian Premier League (IPL) T20 tournament, he was a part of the Chennai Super Kings squad and on May 6, 2008, he played against Deccan Chargers. As of 2008, Srikkanth Anirudh has played in ten T20 matches, getting 286 runs, including a half-century studded with twenty nine boundaries and eight sixes.
