An accomplished hospitality executive with a wealth of experience in North America, Sid Vaikunta spent several years as a senior vice president of operations and marketing with Echelon Place. A $5 billion hospitality development project for Las Vegas and the Boyd Gaming Corporation, Echelon comprised five hotels and considerable gaming, nightlife, and retail developments. As the project’s SVP of operations and marketing, Sid Vaikunta transferred from Atlantic City to create a cohesive enterprise plan, multidimensional business models, marketing strategies, and financial performance plans. He also managed architectural and design teams through the design development phase, evaluated prospective restaurant and chef partners from across the world, and developed headliner entertainment programs for the property’s two theaters.
After nearly two years with Echelon, Sid Vaikunta accepted a position as assistant general manager with Suncoast Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. In this role, he provided direct oversight for the hotel’s marketing, gaming, and food and beverage areas, which included approximately 900 employees. In addition to introducing a number of new forecasting techniques to enhance agility and decision making, Sid Vaikunta realigned spending across the property and secured considerable margin improvement.
Today, Sid Vaikunta works as a managing director with Sobha Developers of Dubai, where he has overseen a number of prominent developments in the UAE business and tourism destination. He has also worked to develop the STRADA hotel brand, which will encompass three 4-star hotels in Dubai. Mr. Vaikunta holds a master’s in hospitality from the Cornell University School of Hotel Administration.
