Sherjill MacDonald is a Dutch football player, who plays in the striker position. He was born on November 20, 1984, in Amsterdam and is of Surinam descent.


Sherjill MacDonald made his international debut at the Under-21 level for the Netherlands national team in November 2006 against the England Under-21 team, in which he played for 57 minutes.


At the age of 17, Sherjill MacDonald started his football career with the youth team of Ajax Amsterdam in Netherlands. In 2001, he joined R.S.C. Anderlecht, a Belgian football club, and spent three seasons at the club. His goal against Stabaek, a Norwegian football club, at the United European Football Association (UEFA) Cup in 2002-03, played a decisive role in helping his club move to the second round of the tournament. Sherjill MacDonald made two Champions League appearances during the 2003-04 season, against Bayern Munich, a German club, and Celtic, a Scottish football club.


Sherjill MacDonald was loaned to Heracles Almelo in 2004 and during his loan period with Heracles, he appeared in seventeen matches netting four goals. In 2006, he went on loan to Hamburger SV II, a German football club, and Sherjill MacDonald represented the club in twenty two games, netting four goals. In May 2006, he was signed by AGOVV Apeldoorn, a second division Dutch football club. In the first part of the 2006-07 campaign, Sherjill MacDonald played very well, scoring 12 goals from 24 matches, and he gained the attention of West Bromwich Albion, which loaned him on January 30, 2007. During a year-long loan period, Sherjill MacDonald made 21 substitute appearances for the Albion. On January 4, 2008, he signed a permanent contract with the club for a fee of £200,000.


On February 8, 2008, he moved to Hereford on a month-long loan and made his debut the very next day against East London-based, Dagenham and Redbridge, in which he scored a brace and helped in the team’s 4-1 victory. This impressive performance earned Sherjill MacDonald a place in the League Two ‘Team of the Week’. He followed it up with a hat-trick against Rochdale, a Manchester-based football club, in a 4-2 victory. With his score card showing an impressive 6 goals in 7 plays, he returned to Albion. In the English Premier season of 2008, Sherjill MacDonald played in 4 matches for his club between August 16 and August 30, 2008 against Arsenal, Everton, Hartlepool and Bolton.
