About Shereef Akeel
An important civil litigator in his home state of Michigan and throughout the country, Shereef Akeel maintains a diverse law practice as a Partner at Akeel & Valentine PLC. Widely recognized as one of the foremost attorneys in Michigan, Shereef Akeel has spent the last four years on the Super Lawyers list and remains in the top five percent of all Michigan lawyers. A noted lecturer as well, Shereef Akeel presented "Managing Religious and Cultural Differences in the Work Place" at the 34th Annual Labor & Employment Law Institute and conducted a number of talks at the Institute for Continuing Legal Education and the Michigan Association of Justice. Featured on CNN, NPR, in the New York Times, and elsewhere for his work, Shereef Akeel currently has seved as lead attorney in two high profile lawsuits representing victims of the Blackwater shootings and the Abu Graib prison scandal.
A member of the Oakland County chapter of the ACLU, Shereef Akeel spends time outside of his legal practice as a civil rights advocate. Shereef Akeel commands numerous other specializations in the legal spectrum, including insurance law, personal injury, estates and trusts, and business litigation. With a J.D. from the Detroit College of Law, an M.B.A. from Wayne State University, and a B.A. in Economics from the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor, Shereef Akeel holds expertise in a range of subjects.
