Sharon Moalem - Professional Summary: Bestselling author Dr. Sharon Moalem has extensive experience in the fields of medicine and science. In the late 1990s, he worked for a Bangkok orphanage as an Aid Worker through Thailand’s Population and Community Development Agency. In 2002, he became the youngest Associate Editor to be appointed to the Journal of Alzheimer's Disease. Three years later, Dr. Moalem co-founded Sideromics in New York City. Using concepts from evolutionary biology, the company has been developing novel antimicrobial compounds.

Concurrently, Dr. Moalem serves as CEO and Director of Research and Development at Recognyz, a firm focusing on handheld diagnostics for genetic disorders. The author of two books, Survival of the Sickest and How Sex Works, Dr. Sharon Moalem has appeared on CNN, Bloomberg TV, Comedy Central, and NBC. He has been quoted in O magazine, The New York Times, Redbook, Elle, and Martha Stewart’s Body+Soul.

Dr. Sharon Moalem holds a Doctor of Medicine from Mount Sinai School of Medicine and a Doctor of Philosophy in Neurogenetics from the University of Toronto. He earned his Bachelor’s in Biology and Art History at the University of Guelph, in Canada.

Dr. Sharon Moalem has an interest in Japanese culture; in his free time, he participates in kendo, Japanese archery, and traditional Japanese flower arrangement. He also pursues interests in molecular gastronomy and industrial design. Dr. Moalem continues to support the Population and Community Development Agency, the Thai organization for which he served as an Aid Worker.
