Shannon P. Murphy leads Murphy Mining & Exploration as President and CEO. Murphy brings a lifetime of experience in a wide range of mining positions to the Cripple Creek, Colorado, company. A native of South Africa, Shannon P. Murphy began his career in the goldfields of northeastern South Africa, one of the richest gold mining regions in the world. After attending Krugersdorp High School and Witwatersrand Technical College in the nearby metropolis of Johannesburg, Murphy began an eight-year stint with Witwatersrand Goldfields as a miner, shift boss, and mining manager. With Witwatersrand, Shannon P. Murphy gained critical experience in a wide range of mining skills.

Shannon P. Murphy quickly proved himself a highly competent mine manager and rose to the status of Director for Southern Exploration. The Murphy family came to own and operate the world's third largest raise boring fleet. Throughout his career, Shannon P. Murphy continued to develop and patent several mining techniques and products for a number of mining clients, including Anglo American Corporation, Gold Fields of South Africa, and De Beers.

In 2004, Shannon P. Murphy left South Africa for Colorado to found Murphy Mining & Exploration (MM&E). MM&E's principal mine is the Providence Mine in the Cripple Creek gold mining region, outside of Colorado Springs in central Colorado. Shannon P. Murphy and MM&E acquired a large number of contiguous claims in the Providence Mine area and currently lease additional claims from Rocky Mountain Gold Innovations. Shannon P. Murphy has assembled a team of experts, including mining managers, geologists, and environmental experts
