Career Accomplishments

• Gained private equity Investor approval for £2m funding in two separate businesses, Full responsibility for operating model design including creation of business plans, pricing and propositions. Established target margins and peak funding requirements and reported back to shareholders with performance against plan. (Mobinet)

 

• Ownership and design of all financial aspects of a start-up MVNO (Desi) including tariff/proposition pricing, retailer commercials, financial modelling (P&L/BS and CF), systems development, team management and contract negotiation. Due to launch in December 2010. (Mobinet)

 

• Built a team of 5 finance professionals in a start-up MVNO (Globalcell) delivering all aspects of financial management including month end P&L and BS, weekly/monthly KPIs, management of retail commission payments and rolling budgeting & forecasting.

Role Overview

Working directly with investors (owners of Lebara) and MD’s in two private equity-owned businesses (Desi Mobile and Globalcell). Responsibility for business plan/operational model creation, establishment of peak fund requirements and performance milestones. Responsibility for pricing, financial planning & analysis, systems development and team management. Worked for investors tracking performance and setting strategic and operational strategy as well as providing financial, strategic and operational support to the MD’s of these businesses.

 

Key Accomplishments

• Worked on the launch of Desi designing retail tariffs and commercials, creating business case, selecting key suppliers, leading systems development, negotiating contracts, managing the web build and setting launch KPI milestones amongst other responsibilities.

 

• Worked with the MD of Globalcell in setting pricing, responding to market conditions and setting operational strategy. Business successfully occupied a market-leading position.

 

• Designed commercial terms and modelled a managed services agreement between Desi and Lebara (on behalf of investors).

 

• Sole responsibility for implementing Sage 200 in both Globalcell and Desi managing all project stages from supplier selection, contract negotiation, functional specification and UAT testing.

 

• Assisted in successfully negotiating improved commercial terms with Orange which reduced financial liabilities to Mobinet by £2m

 

• Worked with credit scoring agencies setting criteria for postpay customer selection at Desi. Designed credit control procedures and negotiating an agreement with a bad debt agency.

Commercial Finance Manager



Role Overview

Provided commercial support and represented finance throughout the bid lifecycle for deals in the UK and globally. Created financial structures for proposals, managed all aspects of risk and participated in client negotiations. Regular briefed the CFO on deal aspects, facilitated Board level decision-making and sought approval for pricing levels where necessary. Led commercial due diligence teams on a series of major contracts.

 

Key Accomplishments

• Structured a series of bids worth more than £120m. This resulted in BT being short-listed to single supplier status on two major contracts that were subsequently won.

 

• Successfully turned around a strategically important but loss-making contract into a profitable one. Received personal commendation by the group CFO for my efforts.

 

• Made finance lead on bids involving new bundles of products/services due to recognised ability to create profitable business models and drive change.

 

 

Orange, London May ’07 – September ’08

Commercial Evaluations Manager



Role Overview 

• Evaluated all commercial activity; forecasting investment return and evaluating risk on all propositions in the Prepay portfolio (£3bn turnover p.a).

 

• Key role within the commercial heart of the organisation formulating business cases and performed investment appraisal on all new products/propositions. Worked with pricing, marketing, strategy and finance stakeholders scoping proposals through all stages of product development.

 

• Presented commercial reviews and new product proposals to C-level management for approval.

 

• Responsible for the prepay 5 year plan including scenario analysis of sales/retention strategies and market size/share.

 

Key Accomplishments

• Performed profitability analysis across the Orange product portfolio. Recommended and led changes to a range of products resulting in the withdrawal and re-engineering of many products. Approx. £10m margin uplift p.a.

 

• Identified weaknesses in the voice tariff portfolio and utilised pricing, price elasticity and segmentation techniques to instigate a major product refresh which has delivered significant incremental margin.

 

• Designed a new business case evaluation framework for capital investment projects and new ventures on the Capital Investment Roadmap.

 

• Recommended an innovative commercial structure for a commercial deal with a major music label. New commercial terms resulted in a £7m cost saving and incentivised improved engagement from the label.
