Scott Weisser has had a solid variety of pastoral experiences. Scott Weisser served four years with two “yoked” congregations in the farm country of eastern South Dakota, as pastor of First Baptist Church, Viborg; and Turkey Valley Baptist Church, in rural Irene, S.D.

For 10 years, Scott Weisser was pastor at The Immanuel Baptist Church in Brookfield, Wis., and Scott Weisser spent another 10 years as the senior pastor of the First Baptist Church of Midland, Mich., and then as pastor of the Community Church of Wilmette, Ill. Scott Weisser was also the pastor of the First Baptist Church of Salt Lake City.

Among these various posts, Scott Weisser has consistently learned and grown spiritually and has honed both his God-given and ministerial skills. As a minister, Scott Weisser’s vision is that of a healthy congregation, including a wide circle of multiracial and multicultural people through the grace of God.

Scott Weisser believes that as a pastor, he must help bring about an atmosphere in which all God’s people will serve and be accountable in their discipleship to Jesus. Scott Weisser feels it is his mission to sharply focus on God as worship’s absolute center, and that solid and superior Biblical preaching is a gift from God and part of the lifeblood of the church, always an area in which Scott Weisser will pray and work the hardest.

Scott Weisser’s Personal and Professional Mission
Scott Weisser strongly feels it is his calling to continue to serve in the American Baptist Churches in the Appointed Interim Pastor program. Though he makes his home in Hot Springs, S.D., Scott Weisser envisions his ministry as one that will allow him to travel wherever he is called, at any time and at any length of time, to assist congregations in facing and resolving issues in their preparations for a new pastor.

Scott Weisser’s Educational Background
Scott Weisser earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from South Dakota University in 1978, with majors in both political science and history.
An honors student, Scott Weisser then went on to Central Baptist Theological Seminary in Kansas City, Kan., where he studied for and obtained his Masters of Divinity degree in 1981, with concentration on Biblical interpretation.
