About Scott Scurfield
For more than 20 years, litigation attorney Scott Scurfield has been immersed in the study and practice of law, amassing a number of notable accomplishments in the process. As head of the Social Security Disability section at Riddle & Brantley, LLP, in Raleigh, North Carolina, Scott Scurfield invests his work with a thorough understanding of this practice area and an impeccable history of client satisfaction. Focusing on the needs of individuals prevented from working due to injury or a debilitating condition, Scott Scurfield helps clients navigate the complexities of Social Security Disability law in order to obtain the benefits they deserve.
In addition to his activities as a Social Security Disability attorney, Scott Scurfield represents clients on various personal injury cases at Riddle & Brantley, litigating against property owners, at-fault drivers, and other relevant parties. Admitted to the United States District Courts for the Middle and Eastern Districts of North Carolina as well as all North Carolina state courts, Scott Scurfield maintains affiliation in such legal organizations as the North Carolina Bar Association, the North Carolina Advocates for Justice, and the National Organization of Social Security Claimants’ Representatives (NOSSCR).
Prior to Riddle & Brantley, Scott Scurfield worked at Raleigh-based Leone Noble & Seate, during which time he established the firm’s bankruptcy practice and provided representation to numerous clients facing bankruptcy and other debtor/creditor issues. Previously, Scott Scurfield worked for McAngus Goudelock & Courie LLC as insurance defense counsel for various litigation matters. Scott Scurfield came to McAngus Goudelock & Courie after five years as a Partner at Yates, McLamb & Weyher, L.L.P., where he built expertise in insurance litigation defense and served on the legal teams of major corporate clients throughout North Carolina.
Before arriving in North Carolina in 2000, Scott Scurfield practiced law for 12 years in Western Pennsylvania as an Assistant Public Defender in the Somerset County Public Defender’s Office and with a general litigation practice at Ogle, Policicchio, Frantz & Scurfield. Scott Scurfield earned his Bachelor of Arts in Business and Economics from the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown and his Juris Doctor at the University of Pittsburgh School of Law.
