Saurabh Tiwary is a professional cricketer, who was born on December 30, 1989 in Jamshedpur, Bihar, India. He is a left-handed middle order batsman and is also known as “Saurav” in the cricketing world.


Saurabh Tiwary started playing cricket at the age of eleven and represented Jharkhand at the Under-14 level. During the 2006-07 Ranji Trophy season, he made his First-class debut for Jharkhand in a match against Jammu & Kashmir at Jamshedpur on December 1, 2007. In the following year, he was selected for the India U-19 squad for the triangular U-19 event. During this tournament, Saurabh Tiwary scored two half centuries, which include a 74 against South Africa and an unbeaten half-century against Bangladesh that contributed to his side’s victory. With these impressive performances, he was included in the India U-19 squad for the 2008 U-19 World Cup in Malaysia. In this tournament, he was an integral part of the Indian side that went on roll by winning all its matches in the group stage. He was a member of the side that won the 2008 U-19 World Cup by defeating South Africa in the final on March 2, 2008 at Kinrara Academy Oval, Kuala Lumpur. As of 2008, Saurabh Tiwary has scored a total of 377 runs from 7 First-class games that includes a century and a half-century with a career best of 169. In his List A career, he has scored a total of 317 runs from 5 matches at a staggering average of 63.40 that includes four half-centuries and his personal best being 73.


On April 3, 2007, Saurabh Tiwary made his Twenty20 (T20) debut for Jharkhand in a match against Orissa at Eden Gardens, Kolkata.


In 2008, Saurabh Tiwary signed with the Indian Premier League (IPL) side Mumbai Indians and made his debut for this side on April 25, 2008 in a match against Kings XI Punjab at Punjab Cricket Association Stadium, Mohali, Chandigarh. As of 2008, Saurabh Tiwary has scored a total of 162 runs from 7 T20s with a strike rate of 158.82 and has two half-centuries under his belt.


Saurabh Tiwary believes Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar as the best batsman in the world because of his attitude to play positive cricket. Apart from playing cricket, he enjoys listening to music in his spare time.
