Montana property owner Sasha Montagu has held positions related to financial management, but also has had other pursuits. During the 1990s, he maintained a ski shop in the city of Whitefish and invested in several start-up companies, some of which were acquired by investment firms. He presently leases some of his land for cattle grazing. In addition, Sasha Montagu donates his time to the Alchemy Foundation, which contributes to areas of forced migration in Africa, and to the New Sprout Foundation, which supports coastal preservation and espouses the benefits of surfing.
Now semi-retired, Montagu takes advantage of many opportunities to engage in his favorite pastimes, among them, restoring and riding antique European motorcycles. A Norton motorcycle from the 1960s and a Sunbeam cycle from 1926 account for two of the bikes he has fixed. Additionally, Sasha Montagu rode a late 1960s Colonago to the 2012 Cino Heroica in Hot Springs, Arkansas.
Along with traveling via motorcycle, he has visited numerous locations around the world, including Austria, Indonesia, Vietnam, Tibet, and Germany. These trips have allowed him to ski and hike, two of his other preferred hobbies. To relax, Montagu listens to musicians ranging from Frank Zappa and George Harrison to Emmylou Harris and Lily Allen.
