After years of dedicated training, education, and experience in the field of law, Sandy Hutchens became the first person in Ontario to receive accreditation as a Paralegal Litigator and Expert in Paralegal Representation from the Canadian Paralegal Association. For Sandy Hutchens' final four exams, he topped out with a 99 percent average. Throughout his certification, Sandy Hutchens rose to President of Tenant's Rights Company Inc., and prepared housing dispute cases between landlord and tenants.
Career Highlights
Throughout his professional career with the company, Sandy Hutchens laid foundations for cases by preparing a number of trials and claims court dockets. Sandy Hutchens represented both tenants and landlords in different matters, which offered him perspective on all of his clients' unique needs. A crucial part of 631 rulings in the Ontario Court of Justice, Sandy Hutchens established himself as a leader during Landlord and Tenant Board cases. Sandy Hutchens also appeared before the Divisional Court on behalf of his tenant clients for several dispute matters.
Canadian resident, Sandy Hutchens is a dedicated community member who serves as an integral supporter of several local, national, and international charities. Sandy Hutchens can regularly be found participating in local community sponsored events. His interaction with his neighbors and others supports his stance on the importance of building strong communities through positive social activities and assisting others to create solid networks for enhancing all aspects of life through a vital group approach solving problems and designing model communities.
Sandy Hutchens demonstrates his commitment to building strong environments through his active participation and his financial support of numerous charities both locally and globally. To this end, Mr. Hutchens is an avid and vocal supporter of the Terry Fox Foundation. A fellow Canadian, Terry Fox was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, and raised in Port Coquitlam, British Columbia. After a very social and busy high school career that included competing in a variety of sports, Terry, at the age of 18 years old was diagnosed with osteogenic sarcoma (bone cancer). Terry's diagnosis resulted in him having his right leg amputated six inches above the knee in 1977. While hospitalized, Terry was moved by the many cancer patients he met and the intense suffering they endured. Following his release, he decided to run in their honor to raise money. This journey became known as the Marathon of Hope.
During Terry's long race to raise money, he was diagnosed with lung cancer and died at the age of 22. His dream lives on through such donor as Sandy Hutchens who works hard to ensure that Terry's dream for a cure is someday realized. Sandy Hutchens sponsors the annual run and efforts of the Canadians to
raise funds for cancer research in Terry's name through the annual Terry Fox Run, held across Canada and around the world.
Sandy Hutchens also contributes to a host of other charities focused on finding a cure for debilitating and degenerative health issues and terminal diseases such as the Canadian Cancer Society and the MS Society of Canada. His lifelong love and respect for animals has led to his charitable donations to the SPCA of Ontario, the World Society for the Protection of Animals, World Wildlife Fund and PETA. Although not a comprehensive list of the causes and organizations that Sandy Hutchens gives to, it is a representation of his efforts and focus on creating strong gatherings and networks of individuals with common goals for good.
Sandy Hutchens was a graduate of the Canadian Paralegal Association. As the first person to receive the P.L.L. (Paralegal Litigator) designation from the Canadian Paralegal Association, Sandy Hutchens enjoyed a well earned and exemplary career in his field. Throughout his many court appearances, Sandy Hutchens participated in over three thousand landlord and tenant trials, representing both tenants and landlords. In addition, Sandy Hutchens took part in court matters appearing before the Small Claims and Traffic Courts. Moreover, he has represented women's shelters and their occupants in urgent family law matters before the Ontario Court of Justice, in Ontario, Canada.
For over two decades, he represented numerous court divisions in Canada by using his education, expertise, and well-honed legal skills to assist with matters of the court. With over two decades dedicated to expanding his diverse resume by representing a variety of Canadian court divisions, Sandy Hutchens earned the respect of his peers and the public for his work as a legal expert. Sandy Hutchens had a long and successful career as a paralegal. Only recently retired, he continues to assist those in need of of legal assistance. Beginning in 1983, Sandy Hutchens applied his knowledge as a paralegal of the highest caliber to support clients through myriad legal matters. A paralegal of distinction, Sandy Hutchens holds the title of being the first and only paralegal in Ontario to be permitted to appear before the Divisional Court and the Court of Appeal, representing tenants in housing dispute matters with his vast understanding of the fair practices that structure Canadian tenancy rights. Maintaining top responsibilities as President of Tenant's Rights Company Inc. located in Toronto, Canada, Sandy Hutchens successfully litigated a variety of hearings. This has earned him praise for his tremendous capability in applying the law to demanding cases across the board.
Sandy Hutchens' work as a paralegal wherein he was charged with representing landlord and tenant issues as well as fraud and scam matters, Small Claims Court deliberations and Traffic Court in Ontario, Canada. Sandy Hutchens has stated, “I specialize in helping clients through tenancy issues. I take more time with clients than other professionals are able to.
