About Ruth Howard
I am Ruth Howard currently relief teaching in Hobart Tasmania, Australia. I've been a Chef and Textile Artist and now I'm an emerging Food and Textile Technology teacher.
Technology facilitates what is already a global cultural paradigm shift, where transparency, accountability, shared knowledge and collaboration are valued. Not what do you do but how are you serving the group? I'm grateful to be part of this changed perception about human learning and work. The old paradigm cant die quick enough, propping it up is counter to human evolution. My role as a parent and teacher is to assist the children to collaboratively find solutions, empower them with technology but rigorously instilling critical thinking and digital literacy to real life challenges.
I see youth emphasis on community, networked communities in this case as primal to fostering healthy learning cultures. Our youth deserve to be seen as co-creators of curriculum so that they can truly enter the workforce as creative collaborators.
